Certified data erasure and value back from every device your firm retires.
Every laptop, phone and tablet your firm retires can hold privileged client material. We collect them, erase each one to NIST 800-88 with a certificate per device, and return the value to the firm. Keep it as a payment, hold it as credit for future hardware and repairs, or direct it to a charity you choose.
Over $500,000 returned to law firms across Australia.
Law firms across Australia have recovered over $500,000 in value from their retired devices with Canopy. Each firm chooses how that value is used: as a payment, as credit towards future hardware and repairs, or directed to a charity of its choice.

Devices processed for our clients.

Six steps. Every device accounted for.
Built for firms where every retired device may still hold privileged client material. Your devices stay yours until you accept our valuation. Until then, we hold every device as custodian.
Scope and schedule
Your account manager confirms device types, volumes and collection details.

Collection
We collect from your site, or you ship to us. Chain of custody starts the moment devices leave your hands, tracked by serial number or IMEI.

Certified erasure
Every accessible device is erased with Blancco's certified tools to the NIST 800-88 standard, and a Blancco erasure certificate is generated per device.

Grading and valuation
Each device is graded on condition and function and valued accordingly. If any devices are locked, we will ask you to unlock them.

Your reports and decision
You receive your erasure certificates, Asset Report, Valuation Report and Sustainability Report. You have 7 days to accept or query the valuation. After that, it is accepted automatically.

Payment and next life
Once accepted, we pay within 30 days. Devices are refurbished for resale, returned to your own stock through Recover & Replenish, or responsibly recycled if they have no reuse value left.

The record your risk team asks for.
Your duty of confidentiality doesn't end when a device leaves the firm. Every collection comes with documents you can file and produce when a client, panel or auditor asks. Canopy is ISO 9001 certified and a Blancco Gold Partner, with full chain of custody by serial number or IMEI.

The environmental outcome of your collection, including carbon reporting your ESG team can use.

Your offices
We collect from your sites, or your teams ship to us.

Questions law firm IT teams ask us
Everything you need to know about working with Canopy, from our services and security standards to what happens to every device.
Do you take phones, laptops and tablets?
Yes. Recover covers phones, laptops and tablets.
How is client data destroyed?
Every accessible device is erased with Blancco's certified tools to the NIST 800-88 standard, with a certificate issued per device. Devices that can't be accessed are physically destroyed through our certified e-waste partner.
Who owns the devices while they are with you?
You do, until you accept our valuation or the 7 day acceptance window ends. Until then, we hold every device as custodian.
What should we do before sending devices?
Back up anything you want to keep, because once a device is erased the data is gone. Remove Apple ID or iCloud, Google accounts and MDM enrolment.
What if a device arrives still locked?
We will contact you with the details needed to unlock it. A device that can't be unlocked is treated as beyond economic repair.
What certifications back this up?
Canopy is ISO 9001 certified and a Blancco Gold Partner, with every accessible device erased to NIST 800-88.
How and when is the value paid?
Within 30 days of acceptance, by bank transfer, a donation to a charity, or credit to a Canopy Tech Fund. You choose.
Is there a minimum number of devices?
Collections start at 10 devices.
